ALBANY, NY-- Denis Hughes, President of the 2 ½ million member New York State AFL-CIO today announced the State Labor Federation's endorsement of Scott Murphy in the 20th Congressional District.

President Hughes stated, "The New York State AFL-CIO is pleased to announce its endorsement of Scott Murphy. In a relatively short period of time, Scott has cultivated a strong relationship with local unions in his district, and has shown a keen awareness and understanding of the issues, needs and concerns of working men and women.
"As a result of Scott's commitment to the ideals of working people, he has received substantial support within the local labor movement in the 20th congressional district. "We are confident that with labor's support, Scott Murphy will be elected to Congress on March 31st, said Hughes.

As a demonstration of labor's support for Scott Murphy's candidacy, a Labor to Neighbor, door to door informational campaign will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 10:00 am. Union volunteers participating in this initiative will gather at the Park n Ride (Exit 8) off of I-87 (Northway).

Upon receiving the New York State AFL-CIO's endorsement, Scott Murphy stated, "As the son of a postal worker and teacher I am especially proud to receive the endorsement of the New York State AFL-CIO, because I believe all working families should have the opportunity to live the American Dream. I look forward to partnering with Senator Gillibrand and President Obama in Washington on behalf of working families all across the 20th District, where I will fight to create jobs, provide middle class tax relief, and offer new ways to meet our most pressing challenges, so we can turn our economy around."
