Robin Andrews Receives Endorsements From Largest Gay Rights Groups - NYS Pride Agenda and the National Human Rights Campaign

The largest national and the largest NY state-wide  groups supporting LGBT rights and equality have endorsed Claverack Supervisor Robin Andrews, the Democrat running for NY State Senate in the 43rd Senatorial District.

Robin, who is openly gay and married to her long-time partner, faces Saratoga County Clerk Kathy Marchione, a Republican from Halfmoon. Marchione successfully ousted incumbent Sen. Roy McDonald in a GOP primary that centered largely on McDonald’s vote to support same-sex marriage last year.

Groups like the Empire State Pride Agenda and Human Rights Campaign (HRC) had previously lined up with Senator McDonald for his break with his party, supporting marriage equality. But since his defeat in the Republican Primary which was dominated by issues surrounding his vote to legalize same-sex marriage in New York, LGBT Groups and many others have now solidly aligned with Democrat Robin Andrews.

From HRC:
“On behalf of our members in New York’s 43rd Senate District, HRC is proud to endorse Supervisor Robin Andrews,” said HRC National Field Director Marty Rouse. “Robin represents the fair-minded majority in her district. Always willing to fight for equality, she will ably serve all of her constituents in Albany.”
The Pride Agenda had this to say:
“The Empire State Pride Agenda’s PAC is proud to endorse Robin Andrews for State Senate,” said Lynn A. Faria, Interim Executive Director of the Pride Agenda. “Ms. Andrews will be a strong voice for equality by demonstrating her commitment to fighting for policies, programs and resources that address the health and human service needs of New York’s LGBT communities. In addition, her 20 year career as a budget and planning consultant has given her the experience needed to address New York’s fiscal issues. The 43rd Senate District is lucky to have such a fine candidate.”
Note: LGBT stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Community.
